Free Inquiry #2 – History of Disney Creators

Before diving into my own Disney Instagram account endeavours, I wanted to learn a little bit about the history of Disney content creators. After an initial search on google I was actually having a hard time finding what I was looking for because at first it was giving me the history of Disney which is not what I wanted but after a few searches I finally found some stuff on the history of Disney content creation and I wanted to share here on my blog. From my research Disney Influencers have evolved from blog based park reviewers in the lates 2000s to this massive curated social media ecosystem we know today. Disney content creators date back to the late 2000s-2010s as bloggers and vloggers dominated the space where they shared reviews and tips about the parks. In the 2010s, creators began to focus more on daily park visits, fashion, and aesthetic photos shifting from blogs to instagram to create the “lifestyle” Disney influencer niche. From 2017 onwards, Disney started to recognize these influencers and started collaborating with them to increase marketing and boost brand promotion. Since then, the rise of Disney creators is at an all time high I find which can make it harder for the little guys.

During my research, I also found this article on “How Disney Content Creators Are Changing Marketing” by Savannah Dison which I found very interesting. This article talks about how Disney content creators are impacting brand communication and how digital storytelling has increased Disney focused content creators and their role in marketing. Traditionally, Disney relied on advertisements to promote their products but ever since the rise of user generated content where creators are producing videos, reviews, and visual content to a wider audience Disney has seen increasing brand awareness because of these content creators. These content creators are being more authentic than corporate messaging and has significantly enhanced the brands awareness and has provided more positive influences for the company as well. Influencer marketing has really become key as viewers want to see relatable content through the creators eyes rather than corporate generated videos. Influencer marketing puts you in the shoes of having that experience which therefore makes an emotional connection to the brand and creator thus making you want to buy the product. Disney’s brand is known for its emotional storytelling, so it makes sense that they are partnering with creators who make similar content. Overall, I found this website very interesting and eye opening as I did not know this information about content creators and Disney advertising and highly recommend giving it a read.
